On September 17th, V Lee, the representative of Foxconn, a Taiwanese contract manufacturing firm, extended birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi via a LinkedIn post. In the post, Lee conveyed that Foxconn intends to increase its investment in India and double its workforce in the country within the next year.
Lee also expressed the company's commitment to bolster foreign direct investment (FDI) and expand its overall business operations in India. He acknowledged Prime Minister Modi's leadership as instrumental in Foxconn's successful growth in India, pledging to present an even more substantial birthday gift next year, with the goal of doubling employment, FDI, and business size in the country.
Minister of Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, shared V Lee's LinkedIn post on social media (formerly Twitter) and affirmed the Indian government's full support for Foxconn's expansion plans in the country. This announcement comes at a significant juncture, considering Foxconn's substantial investments in India, especially in the southern states.

Foxconn is poised to play a crucial role in India's aspirations to become a global manufacturing hub. Notably, the company already operates an iPhone manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, employing 40,000 individuals. In August of this year, the Karnataka government revealed Foxconn's plans to invest $600 million in two projects within the state, focusing on producing casing components for iPhones and chip-making equipment.
