On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed criticism at the opposition Congress, asserting that two of its senior members were locked in a power struggle in Madhya Pradesh, aiming to promote their own sons and gain control of the party's organization in the state.
The recent circulation of a video featuring MP Congress president Kamal Nath, wherein he urged Congress workers to "shred the reputation" of his colleague Digvijaya Singh due to the denial of a ticket to a Shivpuri leader, fueled speculation about internal conflicts within the party regarding the selection of candidates.
Nevertheless, both former Chief Ministers downplayed the incident, presenting a unified front in the run-up to the scheduled state elections on November 17.
While addressing a public gathering in Seoni district ahead of the state elections, Modi pointed out that despite being in power for several decades since Independence, the Congress had failed to implement any significant welfare measures for the tribal community.
Modi also announced the extension of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna, which provides free rations to 80 crore impoverished individuals, for the next five years.
Reflecting on the severe challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Modi emphasized his concern for the plight of underprivileged individuals unable to provide sustenance for their families during the lockdown. This concern led to the decision to provide free rations to 80 crore people through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna, regardless of the circumstances.

Highlighting his understanding of the struggles faced by impoverished families due to his own humble background, Modi affirmed the government's commitment to extend the initiative of free rations for an additional five years. He contrasted this approach with the alleged rampant corruption during the Congress rule, stressing that the funds saved under his administration were redirected towards providing essential support to the needy.
Expressing discontent with the Congress, the Prime Minister criticized the party's long-standing governance and its failure to address the welfare concerns of the tribal populace.
Modi further emphasized the unique initiatives taken during the BJP's leadership, including the establishment of a dedicated ministry for tribal welfare during Atal Bihari Vajpayee's tenure as Prime Minister.
Continuing to target the Congress, Modi highlighted the ongoing power struggle between two prominent leaders within the party in Madhya Pradesh, emphasizing their respective pursuits to promote their offspring and secure control over the party's state-level operations.
Discussing the widespread accessibility of mobile phones in the country, Modi attributed the affordable rates of mobile phones and data services to the government's policies, ensuring significant cost savings for the population.
He also underscored the role of Janaushadhi Kendras in offering an 80% discount on medicines, leading to substantial savings for the economically disadvantaged, amounting to nearly Rs 25,000 crore nationwide.
Furthermore, Modi pointed out the significant disparity in the price of urea for Indian farmers, which stands at Rs 300 per bag, representing a tenfold reduction compared to the costs incurred by cultivators in the United States.
