In Nairobi, Kenya (Morning Star News) – Islamist villagers in eastern Uganda set a pastor’s home on fire, killing him and his family after he converted three Muslims to Christianity, according to the pastor’s brother.
Pastor Weere Mukisa, along with his 25-year-old wife Annet Namugaya and their two daughters, 7-year-old Judith Banirye and 4-year-old Sylvia Bamukisa, were killed in the attack, which took place shortly before 3 a.m. on Oct. 13, said the pastor’s brother, James Tusubira. Pastor Mukisa was 30 years old.
The fatal incident occurred in Kibale village, Mpumiro Parish, Bulange Sub-County, Namutumba District. Pastor Mukisa had led the three Muslims to Christianity in September.
“After the three young Muslims converted, my brother began receiving threatening messages, warning him to cease contact with the new converts, as their conversion was viewed as a violation of Islamic teachings against joining a non-Islamic religion,” Tusubira told Morning Star News.
Tusubira recounted seeing flames and smoke from the family’s home at 2:48 a.m.
“We rushed to the scene and found the house completely torched, with the five bodies burned beyond recognition,” he said. “Many people began arriving until daybreak. Plastic bottles containing petrol were found outside the house.”
