A fresh wave of illegal migrants crossed the English Channel early this morning, as concerns continue to grow over the escalating small-boat crisis along Britain’s southern coastline. Around 70 migrants arrived in Dover aboard a dinghy after making the dangerous journey from northern France, according to reports obtained by GB News.

The crossing reportedly began during the early hours of the morning, with the first boat departing from an area near Calais between 2am and 3am. The dinghy later travelled through the Channel, passing French naval patrols before eventually being intercepted near the midpoint by the British Border Force vessel BSC Courageous.

Authorities are understood to have intercepted the vessel at approximately 5am, with the migrants arriving in Dover shortly after 6am. The latest arrivals add to the mounting number of illegal Channel crossings recorded over the bank holiday weekend.

At the same time, new scenes emerging from Dunkirk on France’s northern coast show groups of migrants gathering on beaches and wading into the water to board so-called “taxi boats.” These small vessels reportedly move along the French coastline collecting migrants from multiple beaches before attempting the crossing to the Kent coast.

The continued activity along the northern French coast suggests that further crossings may still take place throughout the day. Current estimates indicate that the total number of migrants arriving in Britain over the bank holiday weekend has already surpassed 980.

Should additional boats successfully reach the UK today, the number of illegal arrivals could exceed the 1,000 mark, intensifying pressure on border authorities and reigniting debate over the ongoing Channel migration crisis.
