Authorities in London have launched an investigation after a Jewish-owned business was targeted in an arson attack late last night, raising fresh concerns over security and potential extremist involvement.

Police were alerted to the incident at approximately 10:31 pm in Hendon, North West London, following reports of suspicious activity near a row of shops. According to officials, a man approached the premises carrying a plastic bag that was later found to contain three bottles filled with an unidentified liquid. The individual reportedly placed the bag outside the building and attempted to ignite its contents before fleeing the scene.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the attempt to set the building ablaze was only partially successful, as the bottles failed to fully ignite. As a result, the damage to the shopfront was limited, and no injuries were reported. Authorities have emphasized that while the incident is being taken seriously, it is not currently being classified as an act of terrorism. Investigators are keeping all possibilities open as they work to determine the motive behind the attack.

The case is being led by Counter Terrorism Policing London, with support from local officers in the North West Command Area. Despite the involvement of counter-terror units, officials have urged caution against drawing premature conclusions.

Meanwhile, an Islamist group identifying itself as Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia has claimed responsibility for the attack. The group allegedly released a video on Telegram showing an individual igniting a bag outside the targeted building before fleeing. The same group is also believed to be behind a recent drone incident involving the Israeli Embassy earlier this week.

Authorities have noted that the group has claimed responsibility for multiple incidents since the beginning of April, suggesting a possible escalation in activity. However, investigators have not yet verified the authenticity of these claims.

No arrests have been made so far, and police continue to appeal for information as inquiries remain ongoing.
