A man accused of supporting the Islamic State is said to have planned a terror attack using mustard gas, according to court testimony.

Jordan Richardson, from Howden, near Goole, East Yorkshire, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, charged with preparing for an act of terrorism.

He was arrested on December 19 after allegedly posting support for the terrorist group on Instagram.

Upon his arrest, authorities found a document that reportedly outlined an attack plan, mentioning weapons and the killing of bystanders.

Additionally, he was said to be in possession of a handwritten recipe for sulphur mustard, a toxic "blister agent."

Prosecutor David Cawthorne told the court that experts had assessed the recipe as feasible and noted that the gas could be used in a grenade.

Cawthorne further alleged that Richardson’s internet search history suggested he had recently converted to Islam.

Police also discovered a crossbow and a knife during a search of Richardson’s home.

Investigations into his digital devices reportedly showed that he had expressed intentions to harm or kill non-Muslims and Jews. He had also researched potential attack targets, including a shopping center.
