A woman, now in her late 30s, alleges she was subjected to repeated sexual assaults and abuse by three men in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, between 1999 and 2002, starting when she was just 14 years old, Sheffield Crown Court was told. The defendants, Sageer Hussain, Kessur Ajaib, and Mohammed Makhmood, are accused of committing serious sexual offenses against her during this period. At the time of the alleged attacks, Hussain was reportedly around the same age as the victim.

Prosecutor Andrew Bailey, addressing the jury of eight women and four men, outlined the harrowing details of the case during the trial’s opening. He described how the teenager was allegedly raped by the three men, with one particular incident involving Hussain standing out. Bailey recounted the victim’s statement that after one assault, Hussain blamed her, claiming she had “led him on” and that her choice of clothing made her deserving of the attack. He allegedly told her, “This is what white girls are for,” a statement that underscored the racially charged nature of the abuse. Bailey further noted that Hussain continued to demean the victim in subsequent encounters, using derogatory terms such as “white sl**” whenever he saw her.

The prosecutor emphasized that the offenses, which took place in the Rotherham area, are of a historical nature but involve grave sexual crimes. The trial is focused on the actions of the three defendants, who are now facing justice for the alleged abuse that spanned three years. The case sheds light on the traumatic experiences endured by the victim, who was a vulnerable teenager at the time, and highlights the long-lasting impact of the alleged crimes as she now recounts her ordeal decades later.
