A migrant who left Germany and entered the United Kingdom after being convicted of sexually assaulting a minor is now contesting his deportation on human rights grounds. The individual, Azizadeen Alsheikh Suliman, aged 31, was handed a suspended sentence by a German court after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old schoolgirl during a night of heavy drinking in the city of Osnabrück in 2022.
Suliman, a Syrian national, had earlier fled his home country after sustaining a gunshot injury to his foot. Following his conviction in Germany, he avoided removal from the country and later made his way to Britain by crossing the English Channel in a small boat, according to reports by the Daily Mail.
Court proceedings in the UK revealed that upon arrival, Suliman provided false personal details to authorities. Despite his criminal background, he was accommodated at public expense in a well-to-do residential area of Greater Manchester. He was housed alongside his pregnant wife—also an asylum seeker—whom he reportedly married in Nigeria, and their newborn child. The case has raised renewed questions about immigration enforcement, identity verification, and the balance between human rights protections and public safety in deportation decisions.
