A railway station security guard who abused his position of trust to sexually assault a vulnerable 14-year-old girl while on duty has been sentenced to prison following a thorough investigation by the British Transport Police (BTP).
Aamar Mohammed, aged 35 and residing on Shireland Road in Sandwell, was convicted of two counts of sexual assault after a week-long trial. On 12 January at Worcester Crown Court, the judge imposed a custodial sentence of three years and eight months. In addition, he received an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and was placed on the sex offenders register for life, ensuring long-term monitoring and restrictions to protect the public.
The disturbing incident took place on 14 November 2021 at Worcester Shrub Hill railway station in Worcestershire. Mohammed, dressed in a high-visibility vest that signaled his official role and authority, approached the teenage girl as she waited for her train. He initiated contact by asking where she was traveling to, exploiting the appearance of helpfulness and safety associated with his uniform.
He then escorted her to the correct platform where her train was expected. Shortly afterward, he invited her into a station office, presenting it as a warm and safe place to wait in the chilly conditions. As the girl approached the office, Mohammed deliberately switched off the lights, creating an intimidating and isolating environment.
Once inside, he forced himself on the teenager and subjected her to a serious sexual assault. Despite the terrifying ordeal, the brave young victim managed to escape his grasp, flee the office, and return to the platform just in time to board her departing train.
In a chilling final act captured on CCTV, Mohammed emerged from the office and casually waved at her as the train pulled away from the station—before nonchalantly returning to his duties as if nothing had happened.
Detective Constable Tim Friend of the British Transport Police condemned the offender's actions, highlighting how Mohammed "used his trusted position as a station security guard to groom a teenage girl and subject her to a deplorable sexual assault." The swift arrest on the same day, followed by a robust investigation and successful prosecution, underscores the commitment to pursuing justice in such cases and protecting vulnerable passengers on the rail network.
