A disturbing incident of antisemitic abuse unfolded at a central London eatery last week, resulting in the arrest of a woman after footage of the altercation circulated on social media.

The video, which emerged online on Sunday, captured a visibly agitated woman launching into a tirade at Jewish patrons seated inside Reubens Café and Bakery—a well-known kosher establishment located on Baker Street. The woman, whose speech was mostly incoherent, was seen shouting aggressively and hurling insults at the group of diners. As the confrontation escalated, she reportedly threw food at them and began harassing another nearby table.

Eyewitnesses claimed the woman identified herself as "pro-Palestinian" during the outburst and made explicitly antisemitic remarks. In the background of the video, someone can be heard accusing the woman of breaking their phone by smashing it onto the floor. The same voice alleges that she justified her abuse by saying something “about Jewish,” further revealing the discriminatory undertone of the attack.

One of the victims, a diner named Yael, recounted the ordeal in an interview with Jewish News. According to him, the woman initially approached his group of five and inquired whether the restaurant was kosher. Upon confirmation that it was, she abruptly “pushed her body forward and screamed in me and my friends' faces, ‘Free Palestine!’” Yael added that she accused them of “killing babies,” despite not knowing their political beliefs or affiliations.

The verbal assault reportedly lasted for several minutes, during which the woman continued shouting antisemitic slurs. When she noticed members of the group filming the altercation, she allegedly returned to their table in a fit of rage. She then threw water at them, thrust her hand into their salad and flung it at their faces, and finally knocked a phone to the ground along with the rest of their food.

In a moment that encapsulated the hatred behind the attack, Yael said he tried reasoning with the woman by explaining that they did not support the Israeli government. Her chilling response was, “I don’t care—you’re Jewish, and that’s all that matters to me.”

In response to the viral video and ensuing public outrage, the Metropolitan Police issued a statement confirming that a woman had been arrested in connection with the incident. The arrest took place on Thursday, July 17, on Baker Street. Authorities have yet to disclose the woman’s identity or the specific charges she faces, but an investigation is ongoing.

The attack has sparked widespread condemnation across communities, with calls for stronger measures to combat rising antisemitism in the UK. Jewish organizations and community leaders have urged law enforcement to treat the case with the seriousness it deserves and to ensure that hate crimes like this do not go unchecked.
