Anti-Israel figures and leaders affiliated with militant groups were hosted by the Houthis in Sanaa, Yemen, for a conference titled “Palestine: The Central Issue of the Nation – You Are Not Alone.”
The four-day event began on Saturday with broad international participation from members of the pro-Iranian axis and beyond. Attendees included Hamas representative in Yemen, Muath Abu Shamala; American political activist Jackson Hinkle; Zwelivelile “Mandla” Mandela, grandson of Nelson Mandela and former South African politician; former Irish Member of the European Parliament Mick Wallace; American activist Christopher Helali; and Brazilian journalist Deb Escobar.
Images from the conference depicted a hall decorated with portraits and quotes of deceased pro-Iranian leaders, such as Iranian Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini, IRGC General Qasem Soleimani, Hamas leaders Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad spokesperson Abu Hamza. A wall prominently displayed the Houthi slogan: “Allah is the Greatest, Death to America, Death to Israel, a Curse upon the Jews, Victory to Islam.”
Key speakers included senior Houthi official Abdelaziz Bin Habtoor, former Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdel Mahdi, and Muath Abu Shamala. They praised Hamas’s October 7 attack and applauded the Houthis for their support. The speakers also denounced the Oslo negotiations as a failure and characterized Israel as an “imperialist, colonialist entity.”
According to local sources, access to Sanaa requires coordination with or an invitation from the Houthi movement.
