In a strong display of solidarity with the Palestinian people, the Yemeni government has reiterated its unwavering support for Gaza following the recent ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel. President of the Supreme Political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat, addressed the nation on the 62nd anniversary of Yemen’s revolution, emphasizing Yemen’s continued commitment to the Palestinian cause and to regional peace rooted in justice and sovereignty.
Yemen’s Commitment to the Ceasefire and Humanitarian Aid
President Mashat highlighted that Yemen will closely monitor the implementation of the truce, ensuring that humanitarian aid flows freely into the besieged Gaza Strip. He stressed that the Yemeni leadership views the ceasefire not as an end, but as a critical step toward long-term stability for Palestinians who have endured relentless bombardment and humanitarian crises.
Mashat also issued a firm warning that Yemen remains vigilant and prepared to respond to any violations or renewed acts of aggression that could undermine the fragile ceasefire. His statement reflects Yemen’s broader stance of resistance against what it describes as Israel’s persistent violations of international law and human rights.
Call for Arab and Islamic Unity
In his address, Mashat urged Arab and Islamic nations to present a united front against Israeli aggression, criticizing the silence or inaction of some regional governments. He stated that unity among Muslim nations is essential to counter “the ongoing injustices and violations” committed by Israel against Palestinians and other regional states.
He praised the sacrifices of nations and groups that have shown steadfast support for Gaza, particularly Hezbollah in Lebanon, as well as the people of Iraq and Iran, who have voiced strong opposition to Israeli actions. Mashat commended their solidarity, describing it as a moral and religious duty to defend the oppressed.
Global Condemnation of Israeli Actions
President Mashat also acknowledged the growing global outcry against Israel’s conduct in Gaza, applauding the “honorable positions” of people and organizations worldwide who have condemned what he termed the “crime of genocide and starvation” inflicted upon the Palestinian population.
According to Mashat, this global awakening signifies a turning point in public opinion, where nations and civil societies increasingly reject Israel’s impunity and demand accountability for civilian suffering.
A Continuing Struggle for Justice
Yemen’s message stands clear: the ceasefire must lead to real change, not just a pause in violence. Through its statements and diplomatic engagement, the Yemeni leadership seeks to align itself with a broader regional effort to end what it views as decades of oppression against Palestinians.
Mashat’s speech thus reaffirmed Yemen’s commitment to peace through justice, solidarity through unity, and vigilance in defense of the oppressed — reflecting both the revolutionary spirit of Yemen’s history and its continuing moral alignment with the Palestinian cause.
