A 39-year-old Iraqi-born man who was arrested after entering a Texas elementary school wearing tactical gear and carrying a firearm has been released from custody after posting bond, according to court records.

The man, identified as Kyle Najm Chris, who is also known as Muhi Mohanad Najm, reportedly entered Zwink Elementary School in Spring, Texas, last week. Authorities say he walked into the school’s front office dressed in a load-bearing vest and equipped with a taser and a holstered gun. He was arrested the following day and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, a third-degree felony.

Chris, who became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2022, was released on Sunday after posting a $75,000 bond.

According to court documents, he gained access to the school after another visitor failed to properly close a door. Once inside, a staff member questioned how he entered, and he responded that the door had been left unlatched. He also inquired about whether there was armed security present on campus.

When asked to provide identification, Chris did not comply and left the premises shortly afterward.

Investigators noted that although he held both a private investigator license and a Texas concealed handgun license, he had no known affiliation with the school.

As part of his release conditions, Chris is required to remain under 24-hour house arrest with GPS monitoring and is prohibited from going near any Klein Independent School District property.
