As tensions escalate following a fresh ultimatum from Donald Trump, Iran has adopted an unconventional strategy, urging its youth to form “human chains” around key power plants in a symbolic and protective gesture against potential American military strikes. The move comes amid heightened geopolitical strain, with Washington reportedly setting a strict deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face significant consequences.

In a video released on April 6, Iran’s Ministry of Sports and Youth called on students, athletes, and artists to gather near critical power infrastructure at 2 PM the following day. The appeal was framed as a show of unity and national resolve during a moment of uncertainty.

Leading the initiative, Alireza Rahimi, Iran’s deputy minister for youth affairs, emphasised that the idea was not imposed from above but originated among the country’s young population. According to him, university students, youth organisations, and artists collectively proposed forming a “human ring” around vital installations to demonstrate solidarity and safeguard national assets.

The campaign, titled “Human Chain of Iran’s Youth for a Bright Future,” is being presented as a symbol of resilience and collective commitment. Officials hope that widespread participation will send a strong message of unity, reinforcing the determination of Iran’s younger generation to stand together in the face of external pressure.
